Another shot of my day in the Glyder mountains of north wales, what a stunning day.

High on a mountain path in the Snowdonia national park, I came across these pylons, they were used for transporting copper down the mountain by cable car. Just in front of me , are two people, to the right of the pylons. I caught up with them at the top of the grassy corridor at the far end of the image. They went one way and I went the other …. it was drizzling by now and visibility was poor, inevitably, I lost my trail, I was soaked to the skin … thankfully, I spotted a downward track and went for it ….... a hike that I will never forget !! / . / Copyright 2008 Richie Dean / Beddgelert, Wales, UK / Photoshop CS3

It occurs in a semi-circle around Sydney extending from around Ulladulla in the south to Lake Macquarie in the north and west to the higher parts of the Blue Mountains, New South Wales. The family Proteaceae is a very ancient, widespread family occurring in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, South America and eastern Asia. It contains about 75 genera of which 44 are endemic to Australia.

This is a classic view of the Snowdon massif in Snowdonia, North Wales. Often referred to as the Horseshoe owing to the curved arc of the the four main peaks. I shot this in low light with Llyn Mymbyr (Mymbyr Lake) in the foreground. Scanned at 4000 dpi from black and white film on a Nikon Coolscan V ED.

This is The Black Mountain at the western end of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. The stream and small waterfall in the foreground is the source of the River Tawe which joins the Bristol Channel at Swansea / Tech stuff – Shot on a 6×6 Mamiys C3 twin lens reflex using Ilford HP4 – I’m sorry I cant remember the exposure time, but on that ancient old camera everything is slow!

Only a few miles from my home and this is what I’m exposed to … I’m allowed to walk anywhere here, along the track on the left to the foot of the waterfall, or up on the hills to it’s source … This is why you’ll never find me home on a weekend, I am surounded by this beautiful countryside …. but, I dont like Mondays !!
