The press loved the Mini on it’s launch in 1959, but sales were unimpressive, but when well known celebrities such as Paul McCartney and Twiggy became owners that the sales went through the roof. I’m pretty sure the Italian Job also had plenty to do with sales post 1969. The scene where the robbers’ Minis are chased through a sewer tunnel were filmed in the Sowe Valley Sewer Duplication system in the English city of Coventry.

This is the Chrome grill from the auto in this series called Pinkie from my show called OldBoyToys a look at the autos of a collector. As you can see the grill back in the 1930 to 1970s were a work of art in its self often the reason a person would by a car was to have this grill as a symbol of who they were! It was quite striking to see something as bright and as bold come at you in the night blazing with full headlights reflecting off of its front bumper!

Amarillo, Texas Cadillac Ranch is found just west of Amarillo on Interstate 40. The Ranch was built in 1974, the brainchild of Stanley Marsh III, the helium millionaire who owns the dusty wheat field where it stands. Marsh and The Ant Farm, a San Francisco art collective, assembled used Cadillacs representing the “Golden Age” of American Automobiles (1949 through 1963). The ten graffiti-covered cars are half-buried, nose-down, facing west “at the same angle as the Cheops’ pyramids.” Equipment: Canon XTi (400D) with Sigma 10-20mm f4 EX DC / Tiffen Circular Polarizer

This was another of those surprises you come across when walking with out your camera and I was lucky enough to live around the corner from this dead end and even got lost trying to get back to here to take this photo after making a right instead of a left ! Venice with its winding alleys can throw you off for a long time even after many trip down the same alley! The lighting seems to always give a different perspective to a street you have seen dozens of time!
