Today the Australian National Gallery celebrated its 10 millionth visitor since 2002. I thought good on them. And then I began to feel a little less charitable. Australia’s National Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum in NYC (I believe the most visited museum in the world but may be wrong), the Tate in London are great institutions. As are there counterparts in many other countries. Upon them are showered millions of dollars of citizen’s money and the establishment elite fight tooth and nail get on their boards and help choose which dead artist is next for sainthood. And having said all that, I am sure they do some good. But, shock, they are relatively small beer. Currently RedBubble is, according to Alexa, the third or fourth most popular art site in the world. Not bad considering we have only been going for a little over a year. AND we get about 40,000 visitors a day. How does this compare? Well the National Gallery gets 4,520 through its doors each day, MOMA in NYC gets about 5,000 and the Met a little over 14,000. So LETS get serious here. The real action in the art world is happening online – at RedBubble, DeviantArt and the other top handful of serious sites allowing people to engage in creativity and share their art. Yes, we all love sitting in front of dreamy Monet but that is a once a year (or once a lifetime) event. The everyday, transforming, life-changing art is happening in our loungerooms and studies and being shared with each other across the Internet. And that is a good thing. And the established art world will catch on …. Eventually. by Martin Hosking (aka Pilgrim)

My son`s works (CLICK) FOVORITES of My Category`s (CLICK PHOTOS): Landscapes Portraits Nudes Compositions Flowers Winters Collaborations Fogs . ABOUT MY EXHIBITION The woks exhibited represent the linkup of two artists, a photographer and a sculptor. Such an attempt to blend two spheres of art is really innovative and a bit unexpected. There had been few who were successful in such an attempt. Both authors, blending their art by the means of the photo art, are the winners. Sculpture, as such, is rather a static art, sometimes “performing” in a specific, sometimes artificial, environment. However, the means of the plastic photography, seemingly, make the sculptures movable, dynamic; they make you feel the sculptures are moving. They become alive, start moving and react both to the environment and the views captured by the photographer. I would like the viewers also note the colour solutions of the photos, aimed at the strengthening of the overall impression of the imagery. The original blend and overlapping of two arts let see the impressive plastic metaphors, giving birth to various associations. CLICK PHOTO IF YOU WANT VIEW

It dawned on them fairly early that I didn’t have a big enough whiteboard for the job so the windows of the farm where pressed into service. Peter, Fran and Ed had gathered with me, to think about PR at RedBubble. At least that is where it started but it rapidly became about communications. And at that point we had to ask what is we wanted to say. Hence the need to bring the windows into service. There was surprising unanimity. We have never seen what we do as being a print-on-demand site (a sort of tarted-up Kodak) or even an “art” site exactly. We believe creativity is important because it deepens our humanity. We aspire to enable people to be more creative and to share this creativity. What will come out of all this. Firstly you get to see Fran on a trampoline. Normally, I would be happy with this from the day. But there is more. Mostly it will be about more engaging, interesting (possibly strange) things from us. Things that speak about our own creativity. Why? The why is because this is the richness of life. This is what we want to do. A child picks up a box, gets inside it and finds a spaceship. We don’t want boxes at the Bub, we want spaceships. And we want to help others to make spaceships also. Sometimes we will share each others and sometimes we will travel alone. We may have to write a little about this but mostly it will be about doing. The swords will be melted down and turned into sculptures speaking of a higher reality. Martin (aka Pilgrim)
