Sunset at the Chilkat River, Alaska
November, years ago, near sunset at the Chilkat River, where around 3000 bald eagles congregate to feast on a late salmon run. It was a slow year when I went; there were only about 600 eagles.
The sun came up at 10am and went down around 2:30, and did a little arc in the southern sky when we could see it at all.
Sunset at the Chilkat River, Alaska belongs to the following groups:

I’m so jealous! I have always wanted to see Alaska…this is a great shot, John…do you have some of the eagles?
John Wright, 5 months ago
Thanks Leslie, I do but my gear and film was so crappy then, I don’t consider them good enough by my current standards. I’d love to go back and do it again.

Fantastic work, I hope one day to visit Alaska, looks like a beautiful place!
John Wright in reply to Mindy McGregor’s comment, 3 months ago
Thank you Mindy. It is a worthwhile trip, and I hope to go again. Too be honest, Alaska puts most of the rest of the states to shame. I almost stayed… only family pulled me back to the lower 48.
