The Ghost Town of Dalmorton

Dalmorton in Northern New South Wales, was once a thriving, rowdy community of 5,000 people and 13 pubs living off the proceeds of a great, but brief gold rush in the 1850’s and 1860’s.

The scenery around Dalmorton is spectacular with the Boyd River nestled among high forested slopes. Not far from Dalmorton is the “Historic Tunnel” which is a site to see.

The Ghost Town of Dalmorton belongs to the following groups:

Don't Fence Me In, Goldrush and Ghost Towns, New South Wales Photography and Rural NSW

Thanks Carol! It is quite a remote place, I can understand why!
Now it’s just a tourist attraction.
They have recently opened up a Nature Reserve and Camping area not far from here.

The framing through the fence and the composition of this image is excellent. It adds to that whole feeling of no trespassing and mystery!

Great shot, excellent the way you tied in the fence to create the feeling of desertion. Well done Blossom

Wow! There are some very interesting buildings there – like an old lock-up.
Beware though….the road is extremely rough in places – Our rear suspension had a problem when our air-bags collapses after being on the Old Grafton Road! Our car ended up sagging badly towing the caravan. There is a lovely camping spot at Mann River Nature Reserve (on a sealed road from Glenn Innes end). A think a lot of people come in from the Glen Innes road rather than from Grafton for that very reason!
