You never call
me on the phone.
I’m feeling blue

In the deep recesses of my mind
I know.
Yet in denial I cling to hope
within my soul.
Believing that what I know
is somehow wrong.

Putting off the truth,
the pain still grows.
That you have walked away
and you don’t love me anymore.
I’ll face it somehow later,
find the strength tomorrow.

Thanks Lurline, you cannot stay with someone who does return that love, who leaves you alone for other women, who does not know how to return that love. I am with a great man now who really loves me. I could not have appreciated him as much if I had not learned how precious it is to have someone love me as much as I love him.

Feeling that way is such grief but as you said, ultimately, if we are blessed, we find one person who does return our love, remains faithful to it, and who makes us feel every day as if the sun rises and sets with us each day. And we can’t really appreciate that gift without some painful knowledge beforehand. Lovely.
